Worker with hand injury puts cash into wallet a week sooner following an injury.

An important component of House Bill (HB) 1927, passed during the 2024 legislative session, takes effect June 6, 2024.

The new law reduces the number of days a worker needs to be disabled to receive time-loss benefits. Injured workers become eligible for benefits when they are unable to work for more than three days after the injury. These first three days are considered a waiting period. Currently, workers don’t get paid for the first three days unless they are still disabled 14 days after the injury. Effective June 6, workers don’t get paid for the first three days unless they are still disabled seven days after the injury. This change impacts all claims with dates of injury/manifestation after June 6.
