The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is proposing fee increases of 6.41% for the agency’s Contractor Registration Program. This is to let you know about what fees are affected, an upcoming public hearing and how to participate.
About the fee increase
The Contractor Registration Program needs to increase fees to cover operating expenses. The fee increase is the maximum allowed by the state Office of Financial Management for fiscal year 2026. It is based on the average personal income growth over the past decade.
The agency filed a CR-102 Proposed Rulemaking about the fee increase on Jan. 21. If adopted, the fee increase would take effect July 1, 2025.
The changes would affect WAC 296-200A-900, What fees does the department charge contractors for issuance, renewal, reregistration, and reinstatement of certificates of registration?.
You can find information about this rulemaking at https://www.lni.wa.gov/rulemaking-activity/?query=296-200A&cardNo=AO24-32 or https://lni.wa.gov/licensing-permits/contractors/contractor-laws-rules .
