Amazon Accused of Violating WA’s Ban on Non-compete Agreements
Two Amazon employees in the retail and warehouse sectors have filed a lawsuit this month, claiming the company restricted their job opportunities in violation of a Washington law that prohibits noncompete agreements.
Timothy Emery, an attorney from the Seattle-based firm Emery Reddy, which is representing the plaintiffs, commented, “We’ve been beating the drum that this has to change. The Legislature has spoken and it’s about time that companies understand and comply with this.” The lawsuit aims to enforce compliance with the state’s noncompete law, which was designed to protect workers’ rights to freely move between jobs.
