active duty military family and medical leave

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has released a draft administrative policy to provide guidance on the Military Family Leave Act requirements for employers.

What Does The Military Family Leave Act Allow?

The law allows up to 15 days of unpaid leave for an employee when the spouse has received orders to report for active duty or deployment, or when the spouse is on leave from a deployment.

Once finalized, the new policy will provide guidance on the employer’s ability to request verification, examples of what kinds of verification are acceptable, guidance on what constitutes 15 days of leave, guidance on leave limitations, and how we define deployment dates. Learn more.
